ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The objective of the Department of Education is to educate students in the art and science of teaching via the development of their heart, mind, and hand. Department of Education is committed to providing educators and other human service professionals with high-quality professional preparation. As a vital part of the history and traditions of Komenda College of Education, the department embraces the college's mission and commitment; "devoted to technological and general training, to produce competent professional teachers for basic schools to meet the educational needs of the nation. In this regard, we provide excellent opportunities for equipping student teachers with ethical, problem-solving and leadership skills."
Department of Education provides nationally accredited program courses that emphasize critical thinking/problem solving, innovation/creativity, communication, and teamwork. We assist students in acquiring global competency by teaching them to teach in their several fields of specialization
To position the department to complement the effort of the College in training qualified teachers for our basic schools.
To help the College in training competent, dedicated and selfless professional teachers using available resources to align and complement the general mission of the College

Department of Education have five (5) operational divisions which are Early Grade, Upper Primary, Junior High School (JHS), Supported Teaching in Schools (STS), Project Work (Research), and two (2) serviceable divisions, Special Education (Sign Language), and Guidance and Counselling.

The entry requirements for admission to the new 4 -Year B.Ed. degree is as follows:
WASSCE Holders: CREDIT (A1-C6) in Six (6) subjects comprising Three (3) Core subjects, including English Language and Core Mathematics, and Three (3) Elective subjects relevant to the course of study.
SSSCE Holders: CREDIT (A-D) in Six (6) subjects comprising Three (3) Core subjects, including English Language and Core Mathematics, and Three (3) Elective subjects relevant to the course of study.
Holders of TVET Qualifications: CREDIT in Three Core subjects including English Language and Mathematics and PASSES in Three Elective subjects relevant to the course of study.
Candidate awaiting the MAY/JUNE WASSCE and NAPTEX RESULTS can also apply.
Student teachers are expected to accumulate a minimum of 165 credits. The student teacher must:
a. fully meets the National Teachers’ Standards (NTS)
b. achieves a minimum CGPA of 1.5 in all courses
c. successful completion of 168 days school experience (supported teaching in schools)
