First Student-Staff Consultative Meeting For the 2024/2025 Academic Year

As part of its commitment to academic excellence and student welfare, Komenda College of Education successfully held its first Student-Staff Consultative Meeting for the 2024/2025 academic year on 26th February 2025 at the Robert Mensah Complex Hall. The meeting, which serves as a key platform for dialogue between students and management, was chaired by the SRC President, Mr. Prince Botwe, and moderated by the Dean of Students, Mr. Uriel Amuah.

In his address, the Principal Very Reverend Professor Kwesi Nkum Wilson emphasized the college’s dedication to student well-being and holistic education, encouraging active student participation in decision-making processes. He highlighted the importance of health insurance coverage, directing hall wardens to ensure all students were enrolled in the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS). Additionally, he announced the mandatory health screening for all Level 100 students, reinforcing the institution’s proactive approach to healthcare on campus.

The college’s commitment to sustainable resource management was also emphasized, as the Principal urged students to conserve electricity by switching off lights when leaving lecture halls. Furthermore, he stressed the responsible use of social media, cautioning students against any actions that could damage the prestigious reputation of Komenda College of Education.

The interactive session provided students with an opportunity to voice their concerns regarding residential facilities, electricity challenges in dormitories, inadequate food portions at the dining hall, limited infirmary service hours, maintenance issues in washroom facilities, and poor internet connectivity affecting academic work.

The Principal reaffirmed the college’s commitment to addressing these concerns, outlining plans to expand healthcare services, improve hostel infrastructure and enhance campus security for a safer learning environment to support students’ academic needs.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, reinforcing the college’s culture of openness, collaboration, and continuous improvement. The administration assured students that their concerns would be addressed, reaffirming Komenda College of Education’s vision to provide a conducive environment for academic and professional growth.
