KOSA Regina Ansah Boateng Donates to the Komenda College Preschool

In a heartwarming ceremony, Madam Hilda Abakah, on behalf KOSA Regina Ansah Boateng and her granddaughter Harriet Hanson, donated a substantial collection of teaching and learning materials to Komenda College Preschool. The event was a testament to the enduring bonds of friendship and the shared commitment to education that transcends generations.

Reflecting on their days at Komenda College of Education, Madam Abakah recounted her school days with Ms. Ansah Boateng in 1972. “We were mates in school many years back in 1972. She was in room 6 and I in room 4, but we had a good relationship,” Madam Abakah fondly remembered. She highlighted Ms. Ansah Boateng’s deep passion for education, nurtured at Komenda College, and her ongoing dedication to supporting educational initiatives.

Regina Ansah Boateng, who completed Komenda College of Education in 1972, currently resides in the UK with her husband. After retiring from her role as Senior Development Officer with Hampshire County’s Early Education and Childcare Unit, where she assessed gaps and developed quality early years provisions, trained professionals, and served as an Ofsted Registered Nursery Inspector, she continues to be actively involved in early childhood education. Her contributions in Ghana include the Saltpond Methodist Nursery, Ridge Church Nursery at Manet, Accra, the daycare provision at Kumasi Children’s Home, and support for the KG and nursery unit of Rafiki Village. Passionate about promoting reading and providing children with access to books and support materials, Ms. Ansah Boateng's dedication to early childhood education remains unwavering.

"Madam Ansah Boateng is passionate about Komenda College of Education, attributing her liberation and training to her time there. We had great experiences, including descending the stairs to the seashore to collect seawater for scrubbing," Madam Abakah shared.

During a recent homecoming event, Madam Abakah and the KOSA President noticed the need for resources at the preschool and quickly informed Ms. Ansah Boateng, who eagerly requested a list of items. This led to the generous donation of a wide range of educational materials, including mats, baby beds, pillows, car toys, a microwave, books, poster colors, play dough, flashcards, a magnifying glass, building blocks, and number pads.

Madam Naa Kokor, head of the Early Grade Department and preschool coordinator, expressed immense gratitude for the donation. "During the commissioning of the preschool, we requested help from well-wishers and stakeholders. Within a few weeks, Mr. David Ansah and Madam Hilda Abakah connected us to Ms. Regina Ansah Boateng. Today, we officially receive these items with immense gratitude and joy," she said. "This support will significantly impact the holistic development of our children, bringing us closer to our goals and enhancing the lives of these young ones."

The donation ceremony was attended by esteemed guests, including Council Chairman Very Rev. Richardson Andam, Very Rev. Prof. Kwesi Nkum Wilson, Principal of Komenda College of Education, management members, staff, and students. The event concluded with a pledge to use the donated items effectively and take good care of them.

Komenda College Preschool expressed deep gratitude to Regina Ansah Boateng, her granddaughter Harriet Hanson, and Mr. David Ansah for their generous contributions. "God bless them," the preschool community collectively echoed.

This act of kindness highlights the profound impact of alumni and well-wishers in shaping the future of education, ensuring that young learners have the resources they need to thrive.
