THE MANAGEMENT OF KOMENDA COLLEGE OF EDUCATION HAS DONATED COMPUTERS TO SELECTED METHODIST SCHOOLS AND THE GHANA POLICE SERVICE IN KOMENDA
The management of Komenda College of Education has donated computers to selected Methodist schools and the Ghana Police Service in Komenda, within the KEEA Municipality in the Central Region.
The beneficiary schools include Komenda Practice School, Akotobinsin Methodist KG/Primary School, Aldersgate Methodist School, Elmina Methodist School, and Etsiapa Memorial Methodist KG/Primary School.
The Police Service at Komenda also received valuable resources, including a desktop computer, visitor's chairs, a swivel chair, and other office furniture.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Principal of Komenda College of Education, Very Rev. Prof. Kwesi Nkum Wilson, highlighted the significance of the donation.
"The reason we are giving out these computers is to support the basic schools. As a Christian institution, we believe in giving and community service," he stated.
He emphasized the college's commitment to enhancing educational resources in the municipality, particularly in this digital age.
"We are in a digital world, and we need to help students within the municipality reach that height," he added.
Prof. Wilson also shared a personal connection to one of the beneficiary schools, Akotobinsin Methodist KG/Primary School, where he himself had schooled.
"I have a special affinity with Akotobinsin Methodist KG/Primary School as that's where I schooled. This donation is particularly meaningful to me," he remarked.
He called on other institutions and well-to-do individuals within the municipality to also support the basic schools with necessary resources to help boost teaching and learning.
"I believe it is not everything that we must leave to the government to do. I will urge individuals and other institutions within the municipality who can to help the basic schools we have here in order to improve teaching and learning."
The principal also expressed gratitude to his management team for their unwavering support of the initiative.
"I want to thank my management for supporting this initiative. We believe in giving back to our community, and this is just the beginning. We will be ever ready to give to other schools in the municipality as and when more computers become available to us," he added.
He concluded by acknowledging the support from Mr. Baakoe and his company, DRW, who donated 41 computers to the college earlier this year.
"We also thank Mr. Baakoe and his company for their donation. He has been instrumental in our efforts to improve our ICT infrastructure, and it is out of his donation we are also giving some to these basic schools. His contributions have been invaluable, and we are deeply grateful for his continued support," Prof. Wilson noted.
One of the headteachers from the beneficiary schools, Mr. Andzie-Quainoo of Elmina Methodist School, expressed his gratitude on behalf of the schools.
"This donation will significantly enhance our teaching and learning processes. We are incredibly grateful to the management of the College for this timely and impactful support," he said.
Speaking on behalf of the Ghana Police Service, Komenda, Inspector Emmanuel Nkrumah expressed his appreciation to the management of the college.
"The resources donated to us will greatly improve our office operations and efficiency. We are grateful to the principal and his management members for considering our needs," he noted.
Inspector Nkrumah added that, for the past 15 years he has been in the community, this is their first time receiving a donation and support from any institution, far, near, or within the KEEA Municipality.
"This is the first time in the past 15 years we are receiving a donation from an outside person, and we are grateful it came from Komenda College of Education. We thank the principal and his management."
He also promised to ensure that the furniture received will be well taken care of to ensure its longevity.
"We are going to make good use of the items we have received today. And we will ensure that it serves its purpose. Not only that, we will also take good care of them to ensure they last longer," he concluded.
