Komenda College Holds 100% Mid-Semester Online Quizzes
Komenda College of Education has successfully conducted its Mid-Semester Online Quizzes as part of the College’s ongoing efforts to integrate technology into teaching, learning and assessment. The initiative forms part of the Principal’s broader digital transformation agenda, which seeks to leverage ICT to improve academic processes and enhance the teaching and learning experience.
Through the College’s locally designed e-learning platform, Komenco Learn, a subset of the Colleges’ ERP, students accessed their respective quizzes electronically and responded to questions within the designated assessment period. Secure Online Examination and Integrity Systems (SOEIS) were deployed to enhance the security and authenticity of the online quizzes by restricting access to unauthorised applications, websites, and resources during the assessment.
The initiative was first piloted in the Mathematics/ICT Department for two semesters, providing the eLearning Team with valuable experience in implementing technology-enabled assessment. Following the successful pilot, the initiative has now been expanded to students across other departments of the College, with strong support from Management.
The exercise also provided students with an opportunity to strengthen their digital literacy and online assessment skills. As future teachers, the ability to confidently use digital technologies for teaching, learning and assessment is increasingly becoming important. The Mid-Semester Online Quizzes further demonstrate the College’s commitment to creating a technology-enabled learning environment. The initiative complements the College’s wider adoption of online examinations, learning management systems and other digital solutions aimed at improving institutional efficiency. The success of the exercise was supported by the collaboration of management, lecturers, the eLearning Team, ICT Unit and students.
The Mid-Semester Online Quizzes mark another significant step in Komenda College’s digital transformation journey. As the College continues to embrace digital transformation, initiatives such as the Mid-Semester Online Quizzes demonstrate its commitment to preparing students for the demands of a rapidly changing, technology-driven educational environment.
