KOMENDA COLLEGE OF EDUCATION HOSTS THREE-DAY GIFMIS TRAINING IN COLLABORATION WITH MINISTRY OF FINANCE AND CAGD

In a concerted effort to enhance financial management proficiency, Komenda College of Education, in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and the Controller and Accountant General’s Department (CAGD), hosted a three-day training program on the Ghana Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS). The training, aimed at equipping schedule officers with essential skills and updating them on the latest additions to the system, took place from Monday 21st to Wednesday 23rd October 2024, bringing together finance staffs from various departments.

The primary objective of the workshop was to provide schedule officers with hands-on experience in using the GIFMIS platform, an essential tool for efficient public financial management in Ghana. The training also introduced participants to new features and updates within the system, ensuring they remain adept at managing financial transactions, reporting, and budget allocations in accordance with national standards.

Instructors from the Ministry of Finance and CAGD led the sessions, providing practical demonstrations and offering solutions to common challenges faced by users of the GIFMIS system.

By the end of the training, participants had gained valuable insights into streamlining financial processes within their respective institutions. The new knowledge will enable schedule officers to work more efficiently, ensuring financial transparency and accountability in line with government regulations. This initiative is expected to boost overall financial management at Komenda College of Education and beyond, contributing to more effective public financial oversight.

The training session marks another successful collaboration between Komenda College of Education, the Ministry of Finance, and CAGD, demonstrating the College’s commitment to staff development and operational excellence. As participants return to their respective roles, they are now better equipped to handle the complexities of financial management using GIFMIS, ensuring more robust financial control across the institution.
