On Friday 09, June 2023, Komenda College of Education, Komenda observed Green Ghana Day (Komenco Tree Planting Exercise). In attendance was the Principal The Very Rev. Kwesi Nkum Wilson(PhD), Staffs, students and the College’s Council member, Traditional ruler and Director of Finance for Ministry of Education Dr. Annan Bonney who assisted to roll out Government of Ghana Flagship programme of Greening Ghana under the theme “Our Forest, Our Health”.
The Principal, Very Rev. Kwesi NKum Wilson (PhD) speaking on the theme for this years’ Green Ghana Day “OUR FOREST, OUR HEALTH” highlighted the significance of forest in the ecosystem and for human existence. He further stated that the college has been actively instrumental in the Green Ghana initiative for the last three years.
The Very Rev. Nkum Wilson (PhD) in his address also revealed that the Komenda College of Education has expanded its palm Plantations from Three (3) acres to Ten acres through the Green Ghana Project.
The Principal indicated that within the next Three (3) to Four (4) years, the College would not only be selling to improve its Internally Generated Funds (IGF) but also to gain enough to feed the students with the produce.
The Government of Ghana and the Forest Commission has supported the with Five Hundred (500) oil palms and Two Hundred (200) coconut seedlings for the 2023 Green Ghana initiative, this was the disclosed by the Principal of the College, The Principal, Very Rev. Kwesi NKum Wilson (PhD).
The Principal, Very Rev. Kwesi NKum Wilson (PhD) addressing the students present beseeched them to take ownership of the plants been planted and also help to protect the beautiful land of Komenda College of Education.
The College’s Council member, Traditional ruler and Director of Finance for Ministry of Education Dr. Annan Bonney who was also present for the observation of the 2023 Green Ghana Day in the Komenda College of Education expressed joy for the Management of the College and their keen interest in the developing of the land through the growing of crops and planting trees, which will help the College, the Community, and the environment at large.
The Management members, staffs and Students of the College took part in the tree planting exercise after the address by the Principal and the College’ Council member.
