The Ministry of Food and Agriculture under the 3rd Tranche of the Brazilian More Food International Programme, heeded to the clarion calls of Management to procure a multi-purpose tractor. This was to advance the cause of KOMENCO Planting for Foods and Jobs, registered under the same Ministry. Thankfully, on August 3, 2022 the College took delivery of a Massey Fergurson Tractor and its accessories at the forecourt of the principal’s residence.

According to the Principal, the Very Rev. Kwesi Nkum Wilson (PhD), the procurement of this tractor was to aid boost the production of cereals for the College and the community at large. ‘We have a vast land and we want to expand the production of food to feed ourselves as a College’. The Massey Fergurson Tractor with its accompanying machinery: maize sheller; mechanical planter; rotavator with P.T.O and 3-Disc Plough were just the appropriate machinery needed to further this project.

On August 4 2022, the Rt. Rev. Richardson Aboagye Andam, the Cape Coast Diocesan Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana dedicated the equipment on behalf of the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana. He remained grateful to God, Management and Staff and the Ministry of Food and Agriculture for this great initiative. In his closing remarks, he encouraged students to take advantage of the intensive and technological hands-on farm training Komenda College of Education provides. He believed that they could have an economic transformation in the practical lessons and hence venture into farming upon completion of their programmes as teachers.
