Komenda College of Education on Thursday, December 5, 2019, witnessed one of the most solemn and colourful ceremonies in the history of the college; the investiture and induction of The Very Rev. Kwesi Nkum Wilson (Ph.D.) as the 10th Principal of the College. Over three thousand attendees consisting of invited guests, convocation members, clergy, traditional council, students, family, church members, friends, and well-wishers thronged the Complex Hall to grace the occasion.

 The investiture was pronounced by the council chairman, Rt. Rev. Ebenezer K. Abaka-Wilson who then assisted the Immediate past principal Madam Comfort Sarpong Akosa and Mr. Kish Odum, President of the Old Students Association (KOSA) to robe the New Principal.

This was followed by the Induction service which was conducted by the Most. Rev. Dr. Paul Kwabena Boafo, Presiding Bishop, Methodist Church Ghana.

In his induction sermon, the Presiding Bishop congratulated the newly inducted Principal for having availed himself for such a great task. He charged the Principal to ensure that he continues to let the city that is set on the hill continue to shine for people from all walks of life to emulate

“you are not training students just for training sake but your training that you give is that which will help them shape our society”, he said.

He also reminded students that Komenda is a mission school and they should, therefore, avail themselves to be sharpened in that direction to become a blessing to the society. He continued to admonish the Principal to use Psalm 78:70 as a guide for his stewardship having in mind and never losing sight of the fact that he was chosen, selected and called out of the lot to lead God’s people and he should therefore dispatch his duties with integrity, diligence, respect in the fulfilment of the charge.  

He also appealed to the staff to work hand in hand with the new Principal to bring the college to a higher height. 
In his acceptance speech, Very Rev. Kwesi Nkum Wilson (PhD) acknowledged all the dignitaries present for gracing the occasion, the founder fathers of the college, past principals, staff and students of the college for the supported given him so far.

He pledged that he will do within all his capabilities supported by his management and staff and by the help of the Almighty God and other stakeholders to fulfil the mandate of ensuring that Komenda College attains the full status of a degree awarding institution in the next three years and also help mother Ghana achieve the sustainable development goals. “As I begin my work let me say that most of this I have started working on” especially on staff development, professional development sessions of Tutors and a lot more.

Komenda College is indeed ready to set the pace for teacher development in Ghana.
