(SENIOR AND JUNIOR STAFF)

Komenda College of Education, Komenda in the Central Region of Ghana is a Methodist Teacher Education Institution, affiliated to the University of Education, Winneba.  Our core responsibility is to train teachers for the Ghanaian School system.

The Management of the College invites applications from suitable candidates for the following positions:

  1.   ASSISTANT SECRETARY

 A.   The Position:

      Per the Harmonised Scheme of Service for Colleges of Education, the Assistant Secretary will assist       the College Secretary in all administrative, secretarial and personnel matters of the College.

    B.   The Person

The applicant must:

  1. hold a good first degree and a postgraduate degree or equivalent professional qualification
  2. have a minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience in administration.
  1.   ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT

          A.   The Position:    

Per the Harmonised Scheme of Service for Colleges of Education, the Assistant Accountant shall assist the Finance Officer in the overall management and administration of the Office and functions.

         B.   The Person

The applicant must:

  1. Hold a relevant first degree and possess a master’s degree in either Finance or Accounting or an equivalent professional qualification.
  2. have served as a Junior Assistant Accountant or Junior Assistant Internal Auditor for a minimum period of two (2) years in a College of Education or comparable grade in a similar institution/organization.

  ASSISTANT INTERNAL AUDITOR

A.  The Position:    

Anchor            Per the Harmonised Scheme of Service for Colleges of Education, the Assistant Internal Auditor shall assist the Internal Auditor in the overall management and administration of the Office and            functions.

         B.   The Person

The applicant must:

  1. hold a good first degree and a postgraduate degree in the relevant subject area and must be a member of a recognized accountancy professional association.
  2. have served as a Junior Assistant Accountant or Junior Assistant Internal Auditor for a minimum period of two (2) years in a College of Education or comparable grade in a similar institution/organization.
  1.   ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
  1.  The Position:

Per the Harmonised Scheme of Service for Colleges of Education, the Administrative Assistant will perform a wide range of administrative and secretarial duties of executive nature which include:

  1. training and supervision,
  2. covering of meetings,
  3. preparation and typing of reports,
  4. keeping of confidential files,
  5. execution of specific duties assigned by superiors.

         B.   The Person

The applicant must:

  1. hold a Bachelor’s degree in Administration/Social Science/Management etc. awarded by a recognized tertiary institution.
  2. have served as a Senior Clerk in a College of Education or comparable grade in a similar institution/organization with at least four (4) years of experience.

             OR

  1. hold Higher National Diploma or University Diploma or its equivalent with at least four (4) years of relevant work experience.
  2. Must be able to type and be computer literate.
  1.   ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT

       A.   The Position:    

Per the Harmonised Scheme of Service for Colleges of Education, an Accounting Assistant performs various accounting duties which include:

  1.  preparation of statements of accounts;
  2. checking and verification of current accounts;
  3. preparation of Bank Reconciliation Statements;
  4. attending to correspondence;
  5. supervision of the work of lower grades.

         B.   The Person

              The applicant must:

  1. hold a Bachelor’s degree (Accounting option) awarded by a recognized tertiary institution.
  2. have served as a Senior Accounts Clerk in a College of Education or comparable grade in a similar institution/organization for at least four (4) years.

         OR

  1. hold Higher National Diploma or University Diploma to be included as one of the entry requirements, plus four (4) years relevant experience in either case.
  2. Must be computer literate and be familiar with the relevant accounting software.
  1.   PROCUREMENT ASSISTANT

      A.   The Position:    

Per the Harmonised Scheme of Service for Colleges of Education, a Procurement Assistant will perform duties relating to procurement of goods, services and works including:

  1. preparation of procurement plans for goods, works and services for the College;
  2. Assisting in ensuring adherence to procurement regulations as contained in the Procurement Act 2003, ACT 663 and any other regulatory framework;
  3. formulation of procurement plans and strategies;
  4. assisting in the processing of tenders’ advertisements;
  5. preparation of tender bids;
  6. supervising the maintenance and updating of proper database of suppliers, service providers and consultants;
  7. Assisting in monitoring contracts to ensure conformance and compliance with contract terms;
  8. compilation of procurement requests from user departments for action;
  9. any other duties that may be assigned by the Principal.
  1.  The Person

              The applicant must:

  1. have a relevant Bachelor’s degree awarded by a recognized institution or relevant professional qualification.
  2. have served as a Senior Procurement Clerk in a College of Education or comparable grade in a similar institution or organization for at least four (4) years.

            OR

  1. hold Higher National Diploma (Purchasing and Supply) plus for (4) years relevant experience.
  2. be computer literate and conversant with the relevant software.
  1. AUDITING ASSISTANT

A.   The Position:    

Per the Harmonised Scheme of Service for Colleges of Education, the Auditing Assistant shall be involved in audit and accounting duties which include:

  1. internal auditing in the departments in the Colleges;
  2. training of staff;
  3. supervision of the work of subordinate staff.
  1. The Person

              The applicant must:

  1. hold a Bachelor’s degree (Accounting option) awarded by a recognized tertiary institution with at least four (4) years of post-qualification experience as Senior Accounts Clerk in a College of Education

    OR

  1. comparable grade in a similar institution/organization.

    OR

  1. hold Higher National Diploma (Accounting) or University Diploma plus four (4) year relevant experience.
  2. be computer literate and must exhibit high sense of judgement, initiative, and integrity.
  1.  CHIEF ESTATE MANAGEMENT ASSISTANT
  1.  The Position:    

Per the Harmonised Scheme of Service for Colleges of Education, a Chief Estate Management Assistant shall be:

  1. responsible to the Principal for the management of the College’s Estate Department.
  2. advising management on estate matters, including property acquisition rent and rent review, leases and lease renewal and disposal of unserviceable.
  3. undertaking routine inspection of the College’s estates and preparation of regular reports.
  4. ensuring that proper assets register is maintained at the estate office.
  5. assisting in the furnishing of duty post bungalows, flats guest houses residences, offices, classrooms and lecture halls.
  6. preparation of maintenance schedules for the Principal’s consideration.
  7. preparation of venues for functions such as congregation, matriculation, etc.
  8. providing timely reports on encroachment on the College’s properties for appropriate action.
  9. ensuring proper utilization of the College’s property.
  10. any other duties that may be assigned by the Principal.

Anchor         B.   The Person

              The applicant must:

  1. have a relevant Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional qualification.
  2. have served as a Principal Estate Management Assistant in a College of Education or comparable grade in a similar institution or organization for at least four (4) years.
  3. be computer literate and conversant with the relevant software.

   ICT ASSISTANT

  1. The Position:

            Per the Harmonised Scheme of Service for Colleges of Education, the ICT Assistant will assist the             Chief ICT Assistant in the performance of his/her duties which includes:

  1. supervising the construction and maintenance of the Colleges ICT operational model and overseeing ICT network and internet operations;
  2. making detailed plans to accomplish ICT management and technical goals;
  3. organizing and supervising subordinate ICT-related staff;
  4. Supervising the installation and upgrading of hardware and software, programming and systems design, development of computer networks, implementation of internet and intranet sites; and
  5. Training of ICT-related staff. Qualifications
  6. hold Bachelor of Science in ICT

OR

  1. possess minimum HND or University Diploma or its equivalent in the relevant subject area with four years (4) relevant experience
  1. ASSISTANT TRANSPORT OFFICER
  1.  The Position:    

Per the Harmonised Scheme of Service for Colleges of Education, the Assistant Transport Officer is the Chief Driver and shall assist the Transport Officer in the management and administration of the Transport Section. The duties include:

  1. supervision and training of drivers
  2. allocation of vehicles to departments
  3. scheduling of journeys
  4. assignment of drivers to departments/units

         B. The Person

              The applicant must:

  1. hold a Bachelor’s degree in relevant area.

               OR

  1. possess Advanced NVTI Certificate in driving and possess at least Driver’s License ‘E’ and have at least nine (9) years of driving experience.

               OR

  1. hold a Higher National Diploma or its equivalent plus four (4) years relevant experience. Membership of the Institute of Automobile Engineering will be an advantage.

                OR

  1. possess five passes in GCE/School Certificate or 6 SSSCE/ WASCE passes plus Driving License ‘E’ and twelve (12) years of experience.
  2. be conversant with accident reports and the Motor Vehicle insurance and the licensing procedures and other driver and vehicle regulations of the country.
  1.  SUPERVISOR OF WORKS
  1. The Position:    

            Per the Harmonised Scheme of Service for Colleges of Education, the Supervisor of Works shall assist the Chief Supervisor of Works in the discharge of his/her duties including:

  1. supervision of all building contracts and works in the College;
  2. ensuring compliance with drawings and specifications;
  3. ensuring the use of approved building materials;
  4. ensuring that directions by engineers and architects are carried out by contractors;
  5. ensuring regular maintenance of college buildings and property including infrastructure.

         B.   The Person

              The applicant must:

  1. hold a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant subject area,

        OR

  1. hold minimum HND in the relevant subject area with four (4) years relevant experience.
  2. be computer literate.
  1.    SECURITY OFFICER

     A.   The Position:    

Per the Harmonised Scheme of Service for Colleges of Education, a Security Officer shall assist the Chief Security Officer in the administration of the Security Services which include:

  1. Exercising control over the Guards and all security personnel;
  2. Ensuring discipline among security staff;
  3. Supervising and training of staff;
  4. Keeping the security situation under constant review for the safety and protection of the entire College community;
  5. Advising Management on the security situation, and logistic needs.

         B.  The Person

              The applicant must:

  1. hold a Bachelor’s degree with at least four (4) years relevant working experience.

              OR

  1. have served in the Armed Forces, Police or any major security service and have held security-related schedule(s).
  2. have impeccable record of service.
  1. CLERK GRADE II

        A.   The Position:    

Per the Harmonised Scheme of Service for Colleges of Education, the duties of a Clerk Grade II shall include:

  1. typing,
  2. handling of files,
  3. interpreting and application of regulations;
  4. responding to enquires.

         B.  The Person

              The applicant must:

  1. hold a Diploma in Business Studies/Secretarial or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.          OR
  2.  possess five (5) GCE ‘O’ Level/School Certificate or six (6) SSSCE/ WASSCE passes including English Language.

OR

  1.  Applicant must hold RSA Stage II. Candidates must be computer literate.
  1. DRIVER GRADE II

          A.   The Position:    

Per the Harmonised Scheme of Service for Colleges of Education, a Driver Grade II shall assist the Transport Officer in the overall management and administration of the Transport Section and perform duties which include:

  1. Driving
  2. ensuring cleanliness of vehicles
  3. supervision of subordinate staff
  4. repairs, maintenance and smooth running of the College’s vehicles.

         B.  The Person

              The applicant must:

  1. possess a valid Driving License, minimum of License D and must have at least the BECE/MSLC.
  2. GCE ‘O’ Level/SSSCE/WASSCE Certificate will be an advantage.
  1. GUARD GRADE II

  A.   The Position:    

      Per the Harmonised Scheme of Service for Colleges of Education, a Guard Grade II will be       responsible for safe-guarding life and property on campus.

  1. The position requires tactfulness, initiative, discipline, boldness and firmness.
  2. He/She shall assist the day to day administration of the transport section.

             B.   The Person

              The applicant must:

  1. possess the 5 School Certificate/GCE ‘O’ Level credits or 6 WASSCE/SSSCE passes including English Language.
  2. be physically fit and
  3.  be between the ages of 20 and 25 years for Men and 20- and 28-years Women.

16.  WORKS ASSISTANT GRADE II

      A.   The Position:    

      Per the Harmonised Scheme of Service for Colleges of Education, the Works Assistant Grade II shall perform general works and maintenance duties in a specialized trade area including:

  1. repairs and maintenance of equipment/furniture etc

         B.   The Person

               The applicant must:

  1. hold NVTI or its equivalents in any of the trades.
  2. City and Guards should be considered.
  1.  ASSISTANT PORTER GRADE II

     A.   The Position:    

      Per the Harmonised Scheme of Service for Colleges of Education, the duties of the Assistant Porter       Grade II shall include:

  1. preparation and maintenance of records of students;
  2. recording and monitoring guest movements;
  3. ensuring the safety of hall property;
  4. supervision of cleaners;
  5. assisting students in emergencies;

         B.   The Person

               The applicant must:

  1. have obtained 5 GCE ‘O’ Level/School Certificate credits with or 6 SSSCE passes including English Language.

             OR

  1. its equivalent. E.g. RSA II, Ghana Commercial Examination Stage II plus 2 years’ minimum working experience.
  2. be computer literate.
